Smith Creek Wildlife Recreation Area
Located at 856 County Road 448 in Utica, NE. Close enough to the Utica exit on I-80 to make it an easy drive, but far enough away you won’t be bothered by traffic noise, you’ll find a picturesque 20-surface acre lake surrounded by trees and prairie grasses. A boat dock invites you to glide into the water in a kayak or canoe and enjoy paddling through the still waters. The Smith Creek Recreation Area features a 20-surface-acre lake which stores 142 acre feet of water. Constructed in 1983, the Smith Creek dam and reservoir was designed primarily to provide aquifer recharge and recreational opportunities. Waterfowl hunting is permitted with the boundaries of the Smith Creek Recreation Area.
